Police reassure parents after alleged child abduction

Police are attempting to ease the fears of concerned parents following the alleged abduction of a young girl in Palmerston North.

Five-year-old Shekinah Te Kira-Skipper was found on a street in Shannon on Friday, after being picked up by a man police are still looking for.

Inspector Sarah Stewart says she understands the concern and panic some parents may be feeling, and says it's a good time to talk to your children about stranger danger.

Police are still appealing for sightings of a late model, white Nissan Maxima seen in the area on Friday morning, similar to these:

Police say they aren't sure of the exact model of the car, but believe it is a 1988 to 1995 edition.
