Amberely break-in victim allegedly held at gunpoint

A person who was robbed in their Amberley home overnight was allegedly held at gunpoint.

Police responded to reports of an alleged home invasion at 3am in the north Canterbury town.

The victim managed to escape from the property and alerted neighbours, who contacted police.

There were reports of gun shots, but this has not been confirmed, police say.

An investigation has been launched.

Amberley police want to hear from anyone in the area who saw anything suspicious around 3am this morning, including a person or car.
