Some of New Zealand's most exquisite scenery is being showcased from the air, thanks to stunning drone footage.

Arie Spyksma and Josh Watson are behind Wasp Drone Photography, a part-time business.

The three-minute video uploaded to Youtube is "bits and pieces we've done over the last six months", says Mr Spkysma.

Locations include the Kai Iwi Lakes, Coromandel and South Island's Arthur's Pass. Marine life can be seen frolicking in some shots; kitesurfers and boaties in others.

"Whenever we were away, we'd take the drone with us and have a fly."

Mr Spyksma's favourite location to film was Northland's Karekare beach.

"[It's a] pretty sweet part of the country, not too many people up there, nice and quiet."

The pair is hoping their drone start-up will soon become their full-time work, leading to nature or science-related filming.

Mr Spkysma is finishing his PhD in marine science at Leigh.
