A woman has been taken to hospital after receiving serious burns near a Palmerston North intersection.
An ambulance spokeswoman says they were called to the scene at the intersection of Ruahine St and Featherston St by the fire service at 1:50pm today.
The woman was taken to Palmerston North Hospital.
Central fire service shift commander Mike Wanoa says the woman is "seriously injured", but the incident did not involve a house fire.
There is a petrol station at that intersection.
Police have just arrived on the scene.
