A person has been killed following a tanker crash on State Highway 6 at Glenhope in the Tasman District.
The road is likely to remain closed overnight.
Emergency services were notified just before 2:50pm on Tuesday.
The tanker appeared to have crashed off the road and into scrub, police say.
Serious Crash Unit is investigating the events that surround the accident.
