A 93-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car while she was on her mobility scooter.
The car was leaving the driveway of a house on Tuhoe Ave in Whakatane just after 12:30pm on Saturday when it knocked the woman off her scooter.
The woman was taken to Whakatane Hospital, but later died from her injuries.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Whakatane police station on 07 308 5255.
