Govt push to reclassify psychedelic drug 'N-bomb'

The Government wants to re-classify 'N-bomb' to make it a class B drug that people can be jailed for possessing or selling.

N-bomb, formally known as N-BOMe or 25C-NBOMe, is a psychedelic drug similar to LSD and is also sometimes referred to as 25I.

Associate Health Minister Peter Dunne says N-bomb is dangerous and people need to be deterred from using it.

"If you're caught in possession of a class B drug you could face a term of up to 3 months imprisonment. If you're convicted of dealing in class B drugs like N-bombs you could face up to 14 years imprisonment."

Mr Dunne says he expects the stiffer penalties to come into force within the next few months.
