Peter John Carroll, the man accused of killing Marcus Tucker, stood quietly in the dock at his first appearance at the Christchurch District Court this morning.

The 51-year-old was arrested on Sunday and charged with the murder of MrTucker.

He has been remanded in custody until later this month.

A 31-year-old female is accused of knowing the murder of Mr Tucker was carried out, then suppressed evidence in order for the accused to avoid being arrested. She is also charged with conspiring to assault Mr Tucker.

The woman appeared in court this morning and has been remanded in custody. She was granted interim name suppression.

It took police six days to make an arrest after the body was discovered last Monday.

Specialist police teams including a dive squad spent several days at Doyleston's Drain Rd where Mr Tucker's body was found, searching for evidence and clues following the death of the 36-year-old Christchurch man.

It's believed Mr Tucker's body was dumped on Sunday or early Monday morning near the shores of Lake Ellesmere after being brutally assaulted then burnt.

Investigations shifted to an Addington address on Friday evening and on Sunday, after the pair's arrest, police began investigating a Bishopdale property.
