A manhunt is underway after an 18-year-old man broke free from a police officer and escaped an Auckland courtroom this afternoon.
Brandon Pora was facing a number of charges at the Auckland District Court when he made his escape. The charges include three charges of aggravated robbery, one of common assault and one of threatening behaviour with intent to rob.
He failed to appear in the Auckland District Court last week on these charges but made a voluntary appearance in the courtroom this afternoon.
Pora had been ordered to be remanded in custody by the judge when he made his escape.
An officer chased him, but lost him when he ran out onto the street.
Police have been searching the surrounding area to no avail.
