Man pulls firearm on police, runs

Police are hunting a man who allegedly threatened two officers with a firearm in south Auckland.

Police say they were doing a routine inquiry at around 11am today when they were confronted by 27-year-old Ricky Batalliard.

Batalliard managed to escape while police were calling back up.

Inspector Julia Lynch, Area Commander for Manurewa, said the situation could have had a different outcome and it was a relief no one was injured.

"I would encourage Mr Batalliard, or those who know where he may be, to contact the police immediately," she said.
