Palmerston North Pizza Hutt robbed with machete

A car which may have been used in an aggravated robbery of a Palmerston North Pizza Hutt has been found.

The story on Broadway Ave was hit around 11pm on Monday by two, possibly three, men, one of which was armed with a machete.

Police say the men were "heavily disguised" with balaclavas and one wore a hi-vis vest.

While they normally do not reveal figures, police say the robbers made off with $400.

The money was demanded of the two staff at the store, neither of whom were injured but are both shaken.

The offenders fled in a black Ford Falcon saloon, believed to have been stolen earlier in the evening.

The car was parked in a nearby alleyway immediately prior to the robbery.

It sped along Albert St and then east along Main St toward the city boundary.

A car matching the description has been found in Lydia Pl, Kelvin Grove and officers are investigating whether it is the car used in the robbery.

They're still appealing for any sightings of the car, which was parked in a nearby alleyway immediately prior to the robbery.

Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact Palmerston North Police on (06) 351 3600 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
