Faith Nevalagi, the 14-year-old girl who went missing in Auckland on Saturday night, has been found "safe and well" according to police.

She was dropped off at Sylvia Park to see a movie with a friend before visiting an address in Onehunga, and was last seen at midnight.

Police had grave concerns for Faith's safety and said her disappearance was completely out of character.

The girl's family said they believed she had been taken to a party without their knowledge.

Faith's cousin Jasmine Witika said the family accessed her Facebook page and discovered messages between her and an older boy from One Tree Hill College.

She said the two made plans for Faith to be picked up and the two to go to a party together -- but Faith did not appear to have been in contact with anyone after that time.

Ms Witika says her cousin is a very outgoing girl who loves being with her friends.

Faith's grandmother Ririakehukehu Isobel Kingi said the family was particularly worried because she is normally very good at remaining in contact with her family.

"This is really out of character. This is the first time this has happened -- the first time she has stayed out without letting her mum know," Ms Kingi said.
