It's been three years since a huge storm in Wellington almost destroyed the beach house of one of New Zealand's literary legends.

Katherine Mansfield holidayed at the Eastbourne seaside home, which was owned by her family and was her inspiration for The Bay.

Developer Chris Stevenson has poured $2 million of his own money into restoring the house to save a piece of New Zealand history.
