Public warned to avoid Q Card's grocery promotion

An anti-poverty campaigner is warning the public to avoid a finance company's grocery related promotion.

Q Card has sent out texts promoting a low interest, no payment deal for customers of a major supermarket.

However, Alistair Russell of Auckland Action Against Poverty, says there are much safer ways to seek assistance for anybody struggling to pay their grocery bill.

"If you're in poverty and needing assistance Work and Income have the ability to front up with food grants," he says.

Q Card did not have anybody available for comment.
