The $70 tropical island resort in Micronesia

The $70 tropical island resort in Micronesia

Does an island resort, a life of sun, sea and cocktails sound appealing to you? What if we told you it could be yours to own for NZ$70.

The raffle involved in this story isn't going to win you a meat tray but instead, the prize is a debt-free, 16-bed luxury resort on a tropical island in Micronesia.

So how is this possible?

Current owners Doug and Sally Beitz moved to Micronesia from Australia and built up the Kosrae Nautilus resort from nothing with their three children in 1994.

But two decades later and a bucket-load of experience, the family have decided to move back to Australia and instead of selling out to the big corporates, they came up with a better plan.

Story's planning to buy a raffle ticket, will you?
