Wild weather has wreaked havoc across Waikato on Tuesday night.
A tornado caused serious damage to a property in the Waikato town of Te Awamutu, terrifying residents.
Residents say the tornado sounded like a freight train as it ripped through the building.
It tore a massive kowhai tree out of the ground, sucked the chimney off the house and picked up a shed, sending it three properties away.
A person is also in a moderate condition after their car collided with a tree in Morrinsville.
It had fallen onto the road in strong winds which battered the region.
