Two hospitalised following Auckland stabbing

Two people are in Middlemore Hospital following a stabbing in a south Auckland suburb on Friday afternoon.

A 31-year-old woman is in a critical condition and a 16-year-old man has non-life threatening injuries.

Emergency services were called to an address on Willis Rd in Papakura just before 12:30pm.

A witness, who works near the crime scene, told Newshub he saw a woman run out of a Papakura house covered in blood while carrying a baby.

He said other bystanders used a large number of nappies to try to stop the bleeding before an ambulance arrived.

Police have confirmed the baby was uninjured in the incident and is being cared for by relatives.

Police are trying to establish what happened at the address.

There is not believed to be any on-going risk to the public, according to police.
