Video shows Auckland unprovoked one-punch attacks

Police have released video showing two one-punch assaults in the Auckland CBD, which occurred within minutes of each other on July 2.

While the two events are still under investigation, they do not believe they were related.

The first assault happened just after 4am on Jean Batten Pl. The victim was knocked unconscious by one unprovoked punch.

He suffered a fractured nose, stitches to the head, bruises to his elbow and tailbone and cuts on his lips.

The second incident happened at 4:05am on Fort St when two victims were punched unconscious in another unprovoked attack.

The first victim suffered a concussion and displaced jaw, and the second victim suffered a concussion and a wound to his face.

"The unprovoked attacks in these videos are appalling and we are appealing to members of the public who know who these offenders are to get in touch with the police immediately," says Detective Inspector Chris Cahill.

Anyone with any information on the attacks is asked to contact police on 021 191 2672 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
