Fire crews are attending to a vehicle trapped by flood waters near Piroa Falls, near Waipu.

Two people are stuck on the opposite side of a river.

A fire service spokeswoman said the pair are safe and well, but fire service and an ambulance are waiting on the other side just in case.

The trapped people will walk across as the water subsides.
