An "eye-catching" Herne Bay waterfront property is for sale - and it could be yours for only $2500.
The 'property' has been listed on Trade Me by Mark Thomas, and is described as "Auckland's most eye catching waterfront property, highly visible from the North Shore and over the Harbour Bridge."
However, there's a catch - the property is a shipwrecked yacht.
The mooring line securing the vessel broke in severe gales August 26 and it came aground at Masefield Beach Reserve, next to Curran Street.
Mr Thomas is auctioning it off, as he can't afford the cost of repair or removal.

"The vessel floods at high tide and dries at low tide, indicating she is holed on the downward starboard side. She is holed on the port side also. Because she's been flooded there is water damage inside the boat. The engine gets submerged on a high tide," he says on Trade Me.
However, if you have the money or the skill you could end up with "a boat worth about $60K to either resell or keep".

He hopes someone will take the plunge and restore it - a chance to end up with the best view in Auckland, on the cheap.
