Miss Universe NZ on sexism, bikini bodies and Donald Trump

It was this time last year Donald Trump still owned the rights to the Miss Universe competition.

The competition which has young women parading around in bikinis and evening gowns is viewed by some as sexist, degrading and not modern anymore.

But the young woman who is now Miss Universe New Zealand doesn't see it like that at all.

Tania Dawson is a teacher at a South Auckland school and now she can add another title to her name.

So why has Ms Dawson chosen to participate in the competition and what does she think of the event?
