A 5.1 magnitude shake has rattled Te Araroa on Monday morning, as aftershocks continue following a 7.1 quake in the area on September 2.
Geonet reported the 5.1 aftershock at 8am as "strong", registering at a depth of 17km, 55km off the coast of Te Araroa.
Earlier on Monday morning, two quakes, 3.7 and 3.5, struck in the same area between 3am and 4am.
A 7.1 earthquake struck off the east coast of the North Island at 4:37am on Friday, generating a 30cm tsunami, and a 6.2 shake followed soon after.
