The Labour Weekend road toll now stands at one after a collision on Auckland's southern motorway.
A car has collided with a truck and the highway's median strip around 4:35am near Pokeno.
The southbound lane of the motorway is closed between the Razorback Road and Nikau Road interchanges and diversions are in place.
The official holiday period for Labour Day Weekend began at 4pm on Friday and will end at 6am on Tuesday morning.
Five people died on our roads during the 2015 Labour Day holiday period.
The toll of one in 2013 was the lowest since records began for holiday periods in 1956.
