A fleeing driver has been pepper sprayed and Tasered after threatening police with a knife in west Auckland on Friday morning.

The 27-year-old failed to stop on Farquhar Rd in Glendene, and police gave chase. His vehicle was spiked on McLeod Rd in Te Atatu.

A 30-year-old passenger with an active warrant attempted to flee, but was arrested.

The driver brandished a knife and was pepper-sprayed. This failed to subdue him, so police used a Taser.

Police say no one was hurt. Both suspects are now in custody and assisting police with their enquiries.
