Gang boss warns Ngaruawahia P dealers to get out of town

A Ngaruawahia gang is threatening to chase meth dealers out of town by Friday night, but the local Mayor says it's not his problem.

Tribal Huk president Jamie Pink delivered the message at a community meeting on Thursday night, saying P affects 75 percent of the Waikato town's youth and dealers have until 6:30pm Friday to get out.

But Waikato District Mayor Allan Sanson says the small town's P problems are no different to other parts of the country.

"I certainly don't condone violence in any way, but yeah, if there are drug dealers within the town, yeah I would like them to leave the town."

Mr Sanson says he hasn't seen the evidence to back up claims 75 percent of kids are affected by meth use.

"What he was talking was obviously the world and circle he moves in, not the world and circle for the majority of people in Ngaruawahia. Some of the things he talked about was basically the first I'd actually heard of it.

"If he's going to chase somebody out of town, that's an issue between him and the police."

The gang is known to have been operating in Ngaruawahia since 1958.

While they admit they're no angels, in 2014 the gang's leader decided to turn the gang around and help feed hungry kids, growing the outreach to include a Christmas party.
