New Zealand Police have taken the meaning of cops 'on the beat' to another level with a new video posted on social media.

The clip was filmed inside an elevator with a number of officers using the walls, floors and bits of equipment to play out a catchy tune.

It comes after the success of New Zealand Police's running man challenge video, which was viewed more than 10 million times and earned the organisation a top social media award.

One commenter suggested the new video be used to throw out another challenge to other police forces to see who can produce the best "lift beats".

"We're always up for a musical challenge," NZ Police Recruitment responded. "We'll just have to see what happens."
