Second fatal west Auckland stabbing in a day

Investigations at the scene in Glendene (Jennifer Buck / Newshub.)

A 42-year old man has died after a stabbing incident in west Auckland on Saturday night, only a few hours after the fatal stabbing nearby in Te Atatu.

A kitchen knife is stuck in the ground outside the property on Hepburn Rd where the stabbing happened.

Neighbours told Newshub they heard shouting and cries for help before police were called, just before 9pm.

They found the man in a critical condition. He was treated at the scene and taken to Auckland Hospital by ambulance, where he later died.

The stabbing happened after a dispute with a group of up to four people, police say.

Police are guarding the scene and forensic teams are dusting the bus stop outside the house for any clues about the incident.
