Well, in Christchurch, that exact business has been working away in secret testing all kinds of objects to their limit.
From hatchbacks to 36 tonne truck and trailer units, they are all deliberately crashed to ensure your safety on the road.
The company runs 50 crashes a year - one a week.
It's usually a closed site but Story was allowed in with a crowd of 200 invited guests with cameras at the ready.
