Emergency crews are on the scene at the Port of Napier after the discovery of a chemical leak.
Fire crews and a hazardous materials crew are absorbing the chemicals from the leak which occurred inside drums in a storage container.
The chemical is butanone - a flammable and irritant material - and a 100m radius has been evacuated around the area.
A fire spokesperson says the chemical has not leaked outside of the container.
