Rescue helicopters are responding to a severe head-on collision on a remote road in Northland.
Two cars collided on the winding Russell Road in Whakapara, north of Whangarei, around 12:30.
The fire service was the first on the scene, spokesman Jarod Phillips saying six people are injured.
Two have serious injuries and four have moderate. Mr Phillips says fire crews are currently setting up a helicopter landing site.
