A New Zealand man is reportedly missing in Bali after to failing to return from a holiday.

Thirty-two-year-old Joshua Goudswaard, from the Waikato, is said to have travelled to Bali on an impromptu trip with a woman he met on popular dating app Tinder.

A Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Travel spokesperson told Newshub: "We are aware of reports of a missing New Zealand citizen in Bali. The New Zealand Embassy, Jakarta, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Wellington have provided consular advice to the family."

According to a post on social media, Mr Goudswaard met a girl named Anita on Tinder and they departed for Bali at the end of October.

He was expected back in the country on November 5.

Aaron Smith, a close friend of Mr Goudswaard, says the man has not been in touch with any friends or family since October 30.

In a public plea posted on Facebook, Mr Smith asks for any information that could lead to the discovery of Mr Goudswaard's whereabouts.

Indonesian immigration shows Mr Goudswaard has not used his passport to leave the island; however, police say his bank account records show a transaction in the United Kingdom on November 5.
