A scene examination will take place following an armed offenders squad (AOS) callout in Horowhenua on Saturday night.

Guards have remained at a Cook St address in Foxton after reports shots had been fired.

A dog squad and the AOS were dispatched just after 7:30pm and roads around the area were cordoned off, with some traffic on State Highway 1 diverted.

Police are speaking to two people who they say are fully co-operating. Initially police said the two people were in custody, however they later clarified the duo were not under arrest.

No one else is being sought in relation to the incident.
