Dying inmate Vicki Letele has been released from prison and will be home tonight.
Last week, Story brought you her fight to be released on compassionate grounds. She wanted to die at home with her family, but the parole board declined her application.
But the board has changed its mind after the Department of Corrections asked it to re-consider its position.
Ms Letele is an Auckland mother-of-three with terminal cancer and was eight months into her three-year prison sentence for fraud.
She was diagnosed with stomach cancer months after she started her term and has been given months to live.
Story went to meet her happy and relieved family ahead of her release.
