Auckland police on lookout for man in hiding

A wanted man is actively avoiding Waitemata Police and they are now appealing to the public for help in locating him.

Police have a warrant for 30-year-old Matthew James Vernall, who is thought to be somewhere in the Auckland area.

It is not known what offences Vernall is believed to have committed.

He is described as being 175cm-tall, of medium to thin build, and has a tattoo on his left forearm that reads 'diamond' in capital letters.

Police are warning members of the public not to approach Vernall, but to instead call police immediately on 111.

People with information on his whereabouts are advised to contact Waitemata Police on (09) 488 6200, or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
