The Kiwi Christmas is synonymous with sea, sand and most importantly sun.
And sun is what most of the country is set to get on Christmas Day this year.
Metservice Meteorologist Tom Adams says the majority of the country is set to be fine with all of the main centres looking at sunshine throughout the day.
You may have noticed the weather being very changeable throughout December as a front moves through with wind and rain before the clouds clear and the sun comes out to play.
Mr Adams says that is a trend that is set to continue.
"Good news is, and this has been hard to call, but it is looking like Christmas is going to fall between those fronts."
"I don't want to say it will be a beautiful sunshiney Christmas because there will be the odd bit of cloud around but mostly in the west and far south."
The east coast of the North Island will be the place to be with the highest temperatures and the most settled weather.
Hawke's Bay, Gisborne, Pay of Plenty and Coromandel are all set to bask in sunshine as the kids wake up to open their presents.
In Auckland the weather should be settled with a "slim chance" of rain.
"It will be a little cooler than average, nothing too crazy though. A high of 19 degrees, not as warm as it has been recently."
In Wellington, the wind is set to stay at bay however it might be a little too early to say for certain.
"There could be the odd bit of passing clouds but good odds of some long fine spells - a good day with the odd bit of cloud."
The capital is set to reach a high of 17 degrees.
Being on the east coast, Christchurch is likely to also have a settled day with one of the warmest temperatures of 20 degrees.
"With southerlies in charge it will feel like a cool day but that's great for getting outdoors and playing some backyard cricket."
The west coasts of the North and South Islands are set to get some rain but even then, Mr Adams says they can expect some sun during the afternoon.
Southland is also looking as a slightly damper Christmas but maybe the region will get a Christmas miracle.
