More than 1300 residents are without power in the central Auckland suburb of Herne Bay.
Residents in the area reported hearing a big boom and seeing a light flash before the outage hit.
Vector is reporting the outage occurred around 7:30pm on Saturday and power is expected to be out for at least two hours.
