Members of the public with information on the robbery of a south Waikato dairy on Thursday night are being urged to come forward by police.

The pair who carried out the crime entered the dairy on Balmoral Dr in Tokoroa at about 7:30pm, before assaulting a store worker and fleeing with cash and cigarettes.

They were last spotted running east along Aotea Cres, according to police.

The dairy employee is now being supported by Victim Support, and was treated by ambulance staff who attended the scene on Thursday night.

The robbery sparked a scene examination from the Tokoroa CIB on Friday, and police have appealed for information from the public.

They say they particularly want to speak to anyone who witnessed two people on Balmoral Dr or running on Aotea Cres around the time of the incident.

They are also wanting to speak to people who are aware of cheap cigarettes being sold in the area.

Those with information are urged to anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
