A group of hunters in Southland will be trapped for a couple of days after two bridges were washed out.

The 10 people will camp out about 10km north of Piano Flat until Thursday, when it's expected the crossings will be repaired.

Police say the group have plenty of supplies for their extended stay, and they do not hold any concerns for the hunting party at this stage.
