An Upper Hutt man who was dumped by his girlfriend before he could propose has turned to Trade Me to sell off the ring costing more than $6000.
He plans to buy himself a new ute to cheer himself up.
Kelvin Acutt came back from basic training in the army to his girlfriend whom he decided to take the next step in their relationship with.
But before he even got the chance to get down on one knee, the love of his life decided to end their relationship.
"[Two] weeks later she reckons, nah let's not go out anymore. So here I am with a ring without a pretty finger to put it on," he says.
The one-carat diamond ring placed on Trade Me with a $1 reserve has had more than 8000 page views and has already surpassed the $1000 mark.
Mr Acutt thinks the new ute he wants to buy could love him unconditionally but hasn't ruled out finding the one as part of the Trade Me auction.
"Alternately if think yourself an attractive woman who loves the outdoors and your finger will fit the required measurements. Hit us up ;)," he says.
The auction ends on February, 1, so you have until then to win his heart - or help him to purchase the new love of his life.
