A road near Porirua will become a makeshift helipad following a serious two-car crash on Tuesday.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 7:35pm on State Highway 58 at Judgeford, where one man was seriously injured.
The road and one lane is completely blocked outside Old Man Mack Saw Mill Rd and the Pauatahanui roundabout while police wait for a helicopter to airlift him to hospital.
There are no diversions in place.
