Masked vandals graffiti stationary Auckland train

Video has emerged of a handful of well-coordinated taggers who decided to do a little art on Sunday night, on a stationary Auckland Transport train in west Auckland.

The footage, posted on Facebook, shows at least three taggers spraypainting the outside of the train, to the amusement of passengers on board.

Auckland Transport spokesman Mark Hannen told NZME police have been provided with CCTV footage of the group.

"The train was taken out of service and washed overnight at our facility in Wiri and was clean and back in service yesterday morning," he says.

"Auckland's trains are treated with a film so tags can be easily washed off."

It's reported that incidents like this cost Auckland ratepayers as much as $500,000 a year for clean-up and damage costs.
