MyFoodBag gives seafood product to vegetarian customers

  • 23/01/2017

Food delivery service MyFoodBag has been forced to apologise to customers this week, after sending a meal containing seafood in their vegetarian box.

In a statement emailed to their customers, MyFoodBag wrote: "the recipe for Wednesday's night's Okonomiyaki with Japanese slaw is served with okonomiyaki sauce that contains fish products - oyster and anchovy".

"This should not have appeared in our veggie bag and has slipped through our checks and balances.

"We're extremely sorry about this error and we are updating our processes to ensure this doesn't happen again."

The company compensated for the error with a $5 credit on the account of their vegetarian customers, and encouraged those with any concerns to call their 'customer love team'.

They also provided an alternate recipe for those who follow "a strict vegetarian diet".

The recipe for the savoury pancake remains on the website under the 'My Veggie Bag' recipe section.

MyFoodBag is a home delivery food service that delivers boxes of ingredients to households around New Zealand, along with a step-by-step recipe to follow. The face and co-founder of the business is New Zealand Masterchef winner and celebrity chef Nadia Lim.

The weekly price for the 'My Veggie Bag' is $119, which provides four recipes, serving two adults.
