A man walking along a Waikato highway died when he was hit by a vehicle shortly after midnight on Saturday morning.
The man, 24, was on State Highway 27 between Matamata and Waharoa.
The serious crash unit is investigating, police say.
Also in Waikato, a fleeing driver has been seriously injured after being flung from their car during a police chase in Hamilton.
The vehicle collided with another motorist early on Saturday morning on Powells Rd.
