Six people have been arrested after a party got out of control in Huntly on Saturday night.

Both the host and several neighbours called police between 11:45pm and 12:30am.

More than 60 people were present at the Bailey St party. It spilled onto the street, with party-goers fighting, smashing bottles and yelling, according to Detective Sergeant Dean Anderson.

Police called for more units, after which the crowd became destructive, throwing rocks and bricks through police car windows.

Sgt Anderson says some officers received minor bruising after being pelted with bricks and wood in their riot gear.

The six arrests were made for failing to comply with police, breach of the peace and disorder.
