Turns out NZ First leader and Northland MP Winston Peters isn't a romantic, spurning Valentine's Day questions on the AM Show on Tuesday.
Mr Peters was up early to talk about foreign drivers, and definitely not to talk romance.
Closing the interview, Duncan Garner fired the question: "Did you buy your partner a Valentine's Day gift, Winston?"
"I don't believe in American-type, commercial…"
"Claptrap!" Garner interjected.
"…preying on poor New Zealand citizens like myself," Mr Peters finished.
So it seems the one-time political editor has finally found something in common with Parliament's elder statesman.
