Christchurch businessman facing underage sex charges

A Christchurch man appeared in the Christchurch District Court on Thursday facing three sex charges, which he has pleaded not guilty to.

John Michael Condon, 61, pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecent assault of an underage girl, sexual violation and attempting to indecently assault a child.

During his appearance, police laid a further 10 charges against Condon for alleged offences between 2006 and 2014.

The charges include four charges of indecent assault, two of indecent acts on young girls, one assault with intent to rape a young girl, and three charges of paying for sex with under-aged girls.

Condon formerly owned a business based in Christchurch.

He has been remanded in custody and will reappear on March, 9.
