Man critical after Hawke's Bay assault

Police are trying to identify a man found unconscious in Hawke's Bay on Monday morning after being assaulted.

The man is believed to be in his 40s and has long scraggly brown hair, and was wearing a red long-sleeved top and dark blue shorts when he was found at around 7am in Haumoana.

He's currently in Hawke's Bay hospital in a critical condition.

Police ask anyone who may have seen the man in the Grange Road North and Domain Road area on Sunday afternoon or evening to contact them.
