Defence lawyers for Nicola Jones and Julie-Ann Torrance will begin their closing defence against charges their clients attempted to murder a young woman in Dome Valley.

Jones and Torrance have been standing trial in the High Court at Auckland where the Crown on Wednesday delivered its closing statements against the pair.

It accuses Jones and Torrance, along with Wayne Blackett, of taking the young woman to Conical Peak Road in May 2016 where she was hit in the head with a hammer at least 10 times and left for dead.

Lawyers for Michelle Blom and Cameron Hakeke are also set to provide their closing defences against charges their clients had been involved in kidnapping and assaulting the young woman.
