Police are looking for a teenager believed to be in Auckland, who has been missing for almost a month.

Thirteen-year-old Tamia Apaapa was last seen in her school uniform and was reported missing by her family on March 27, police said.

"Since that time she has been heard from intermittently, but due to her age and the length of time she has not been seen, police have serious concerns for her safety and wellbeing," they said in a statement.

While Tamia is believed to be in the Auckland area, she has family in Tauranga and may be heading towards the Bay of Plenty or Hamilton.

Anyone with information is urged to contact their local police station, directly contact Sergeant James Cassin on 021 190 5019, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
