Could ship's anchor have solved case of missing teen?

Longtime friend of Lipp-Neighbours, Benjamin Clark said he heard rumours about the car being found this morning and cycled to the scene.

Clark said there were obvious concrete repairs made to the wharf, but wasn't sure when they were done.

He told Newshub Lipp-Neighbours was one of his closest friends and that he was never "that unhappy."

Nelson police expect to examine the vehicle with a dive squad early this afternoon.

Nelson police are investigating possible links between missing teen Leo Lipp-Neighbours and a car found submerged in Nelson harbour after being uncovered by a ship's anchor.

Nelson police area commander, Inspector Matthew Arnold-Kelly told Newshub that they aren't in a position to confirm a link between the two, but that Lipp-Neighbours' family had been made aware of the discovery.

Nineteen year-old Lipp-Neighbours was last seen leaving a house in Nelson in the early hours of the morning on January 24, 2010. He had told his friends he was going to 'be at one with nature'.
